Opportunities

Buffalo State is committed to providing students with educational opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. Below are some experiences, programs, and extracurricular opportunities open to economics and finance majors:

Dead Economist Society

The Dead Economist Society is the economics and finance club open to all students, majors, minors, or any student on campus. The club has regular meetings, usually during Bengal pause, where guest speakers, alumni, and other field experts share insights from the workplace with students, students learn to trade stocks and foreign exchange together, and engage in other activities including Habitat for Humanity, volunteer work, visits to Morgan Stanley, or other financial and economic firms and governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Honors Economics

Honors in Economics is an opportunity for B.A. students to work closely with a faculty member for two semesters, exploring an area of interest in Economics. Students register for six additional credits:

ECO 495 Honors Research I
ECO 496 Honors Research II

Stop by our office in Cassety Hall for more information.

Omicron Delta Epsilon

The Buffalo State Chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon works closely with the Dead Economists Society. It organizes speakers series on important issues in economics and finance and helps majors network for career and graduate study.
